MeetUp: ECE’s Mobile Health Sensor Big Data Research
February 2, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
The recent trends of Big Data and Internet of Things have collided in a big way in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Ohio State. One of the researchers at the forefront of these initiatives in the area of smart health and wellbeing is Professor Emre Ertin, a member of the National Center of Excellence for Mobile Sensor Data-to-Knowledge (MD2K), a collection of researchers across the country that is advancing biomedical discovery and improving health through Mobile Sensor Big Data.
Professor Ertin specializes in biomedical sensor design and statistical signal processing with application to sensor networks and mobile health. The overview I received in September demonstrated a wearable RF heart sensor that was feeding data to a cell phone app and being processed for early detection of conditions that require attention. All very cool stuff that portends to advances in monitoring and detection of chronic disease progression that will save and improve lives.
Join Professor Ertin and your fellow ECE/EE Alums for an evening to learn more about his groundbreaking research and the impact it is going to have on healthcare and society.
